Where would a LAN be used?

LAN [ Local Area Network ] can be found everywhere that you find a network. It can be used to transfer data from one computer to another, or to share an internet connection.

For example, my wife and I have two desktop computers and two laptops, all connected together through a router [ hardware accessory ] to share one internet connection in our home.
