Where is the thermostat located on a 2000 VW Sharan 1.9 TDi?

when you remove the engine cover, you see small sphere closest to your alternator. Remove that sphere (vacuum reservoir) and you see outlet pipe from Main radiator. Remove the plastic elbow and you see the thermostat on your engine.
