How do you become a marine mammal veterinarian?

You would first need to become a veterinarian by completing all the education required to earn your veterinary degree. While doing this, you would ideally spend as much time as possible working with aquatic species and doing externships with various veterinarians in the field. After graduating from vet school, you would probably need to complete both an internship then a residency to become board certified in aquatic animal medicine or a related specialty. Unfortunately, there are more veterinarians who want to get into this field than there are openings, so the field is extremely competitive.
