To be honest, there's no easy way to have "that" talk with your significant other, trust me, everyone always assumes the worst. I guess the best way is to either ask for a few days to your self, like no contact for 3 days or a week, or whatever. If you need more time than that, there's no easy way to do it. Try to start by reminding him that you love him and that you feel that it's best to take a break and try again when you feel ready for it. Remind him throughout the whole conversation that you have feelings for him and that you care for him. If he's a good man, he'll understand and will respect your decision and let you be. Keep in mind he might be a little needy at first, but just gently remind him that you need time to be alone for right now and that when you are comfortable with it, will begin having light conversations with him.
