Mummification involves several key steps: First, the body is washed and purified, often with oils and spices. Next, internal organs are removed, usually including the brain, lungs, stomach, intestines, and liver, which are often preserved separately in canopic jars. The body is then dehydrated using natron, a naturally occurring salt, to prevent decay. Finally, the body is wrapped in linen bandages, often with amulets placed between the layers for protection in the afterlife.
