Tigers, like all mammals, exchange gases through a process called respiration. They inhale oxygen from the air into their lungs, where it diffuses into the bloodstream and is transported to cells for energy production. Simultaneously, carbon dioxide, a waste product of metabolism, is expelled from the blood into the lungs and then exhaled. This gas exchange occurs in the alveoli, tiny air sacs in the lungs.
