How big was a saber-toothed in comparison to a modern tiger?

The dire wold is about 5 feet in length and weights about 240 lbs and the biggest sabertooth tiger which is the sabertooth populator is about 8 feet in length and 4 feet in height at shoulder and weights about 700 to 1000 lbs. If I had to compare dire wolf to a sabertooth tiger, I would say that sabertooth would look much bigger because of it's massive shoulder muscles and all its overall appearance.
