Why are Encyclopedia useful?

One advantage is it gives you a basic understand of issues, people, events, etc. It's great for elementary and some high school students. One disadvantage, is that it is not in-depth enough for college undergraduate, and graduate studies. In addition, there are not enough resources and differences of opinion.
