Many US fighter pilots considered the F100 Super Sabre (aka the "Hun") to be a handsome jet fighter. 1. Many USAF/USN/USMC airmen who had the opportunity to shoot an F100 target drone down during training; for those that were too young to have known the "Hun", when they saw it in the air, they often stated that it was a beautiful looking airplane. 2. The "Hun" never had any bad nicknames such as the SLUF/Buf or Double Ugly of the A7 Corsair II, B52 bomber or F4 Phantom II. 3. The F100 quite possibly saw more combat than any other US jet in history, logging over 360,000 combat missions in Vietnam from 1962 to 1971. Including 4 AIR NATIONAL GUARD SQUADRONS from Colorado, Iowa, New Mexico, and New York. Keeping in mind that former President Bush Jr. had served in the Texas Air National Guard (flying F102 Delta Daggers).
