The Army doesn't conform to normal legal proceedings. All it takes to kick you out is a recommendation from your commanding officer stating the reason you should be discharged (like using/dealing illegal drugs). As long as you were presented with the opportunity to defend yourself before an Administrative Discharge Board, they have every right to discharge you with a general discharge.
