How do you prevent swamp rot in the roots of houseplants growing in water instead of soil?

if a plant was meant to stand in water then it is ok and you should have no problems with rot.

if not then take the plant out of the water and put it in the soil it needs.

problem solved.

anybody thinking this answer is a joke, i give this to think:

would you keep your dog in cage sitting on a perch just because it looks "different" ?

treat a plant right and it will flourish :)
