How does nick in The Great Gatsby perceive himself?

there are instances in the play which suggest he is both reliable and unreliable. in my oppinion, he cannot be considered reliable because of his lack of clarity and bias oppinions of certain characters due to his relationships with them. For instance, Nick is attracted to Gatsby . He describes him as an "Extraordinary gift for hope and a romantic readiness" and frequently seems to admire him more that could be expected.
