Crops, as harvested plants, are all technically perishable, as they will decompose eventually. However, as defined by the USDA, foods that do not require refrigeration and have a relatively longer shelf-life can be considered non-perishable. To qualify, these foods would have to be treated in some way (i. e. canned, dehydrated, dried, freeze-dried), most often adding salt.
