According to the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the core vaccines that all horses should receive at least once a year are Eastern and Western Equine Encephalytis, Tetanus, West Nile Virus and Rabies vaccines. There are many other types of vaccines that are recommended based upon the risk of contracting certain diseases due to the horse's use, age and environmental conditions. These risk based vaccines are Equine Herpes Virus (Rhino), Influenza, Strangles, Equine Viral Arteritis, Botulism, Potomac Horse Fevere, etc.
