When did United states get California?

The United States acquired California in 1848 as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, which ended the Mexican-American War. The treaty was signed on February 2, 1848, and ratified by the U.S. Senate later that year. California was then admitted as a state on September 9, 1850.
