The book of James has been called "a string of pearls," suggesting there is no cohesion to the letter, but just several well-developed paragraphs strung together - a scrapbook.

Ethical - probably because it has considerable advice about the standards of behaviour for Christians - the tongue (its use and abuse), covetousness, impartiality, use of riches..
