Why is the store target called target?

Target is a store focused on providing a great experience to it's "guests" while providing low prices and staying corporately responsible. Target tends to be more clean and higher class than most other discount retailers. Target was named America's Most Charitable Company by Forbes in 2007 and is often praised for it's giving nature. Target manages to keep relatively low prices, while still offering their guests designer merchandise.
