Do caterpillars poop in chrysalis

Caterpillars do not defecate like humans do, but while undergoing the process of metamorphasis, they do keep undergoing cellular respiration, thus waste products are produced. They cannot expel waste outside of the cocoon, so the nitrogen rich waste is stored inside the cocoon until the butterfly or moth emerges.
