How do piranha lay eggs?

Piranhas lay eggs in freshwater environments, typically during the rainy season when water levels rise. A female can lay hundreds to thousands of eggs, which she deposits in shallow nests or among vegetation. Males then fertilize the eggs, and both parents often guard the nest to protect the developing larvae from predators until they hatch. After a few days, the eggs hatch into small fry, which begin to swim and fend for themselves.
