What type of degree is needed to become a psychologist?

I'm not completely sure but I'm doing a report on psychology and i believe to become a full psychologist you need a doctoral degree, and a psychologist assistant you need a master's degree.

But this information is from 2000, and Health psychology so I'm not completely sure.
