How can technology have positive and negative effects on society?

Good effect is that it makes our work easier and more comfortable.

Bad effect is that it makes us lazy and dependent on machines.

~Also, as our technology becomes progressively more advanced, it will take more jobs away from people. For example, a surgery could be performed by a robot that can work faster and more precise than a human. At the same time, it took a lot of engineers to design and develop that robot! haha Or what about factory jobs... now there is one machine that does all the work instead of having to hire 100 workers :P

In the future we may be living on a different planet!

Good effects: Technology has improved everyone's standard of living too... toasters, microwaves, lawnmowers, tractors, cars, planes, boats, etc. Think of your life without electricityor running water!

To look at some bad effects, we can look at how technology has effected war... guns, bombs, torpedoes, nuclear weapons... Nagasaki and Hiroshima...

Or what about kids growing up with cell phones, YouTube, and Facebook... little girls are posting half nude videos of themselves and talking to complete strangers (nasty, old, perverted men/women?...). And there are even people who propose on Facebook!

It was much nicer when someone asked you out face-to-face. Now you just receive a text message "Yo. wanna be my gf?" .
