What does it mean if your volts reading fluctuates?

If you have a volt meter on the dash board , it could mean nothing or it could mean that the alternator output is fluctuating. It is is only minor movement, it is probably nothing to worry about but if the fluctuations are rapid and large, you have a problem. Needs to be looked at by a mechanic.
