What was Michelangelo's first love?

Sculpture. Always sculpture.

He painted a lot and is perhaps most remembered as the painter to the Sistine Chapel but actually he didn't like to paint because it took time away from him being able to sculpt. It is interesting that now we consider him as first as a painter then a sculptor but if you had a chance to ask him, he would introduce himself as simply an sculptor.
