To be honest it depends on the type of pasta. For instance, 2 lbs. dry vermicelli will take up the equivalent space of about 3 cups. For elbow macaroni that'll be about 5 cups or so. For rotini it could be 5 or 6 cups. for angel hair pasta, usually packaged in cakes, it can be almost 12 cups. The best thing to do is weigh, or purchase the weight you need of any particular dry pasta.
BTW 1 lb of homemade fresh pasta dough is about 3 1/2 cups, before shaping it and cooking it.
