Hi. I am 124 lbs and 5'2 too. I am still in the process of losing weight, though. The most effective strategy for me was counting calories and exercising. I started out eating 2000 calories a day, and I lost 3 lbs in the first week. When 2000 calories wasn't effective anymore, I went down to 1500 calories a day. I also started eating more nutritionally balanced meals. For example, for breakfast: Thomas English muffin with gala Apple. For lunch: small bowl with brown rice and two pieces ham lunchmeat. I have no control of what I eat for dinner since I'm not the one making it. Save extra calories for dinner, even if it is super healthy. I exercise for at least 2 hours a day, sometimes more. Swimming is a great option, especially if you live in a hot place. If you don't have access to a pool, then go jogging or get into yoga. I didn't ever try strength training since aerobic exercises cut off the pounds for me. If you hit a weight block, a.k.a when your weight just doesn't budge on the scale for a while, then change your strategy. For example, if you get stuck at 118 lbs, and your eating 1500 calories a day and exercising for 1 hour, try exercising for 2 hours instead. Or you can eat less and better.
I hope this helps, I'm sorry if it confused you.
If it doesn't work try looking on LIVESTRONG or another health website. :)
