The 11 General Orders outline the fundamental rules every security guard must follow. They help maintain discipline, awareness, and proper conduct while on duty.
The 11 General Orders are:
- Take responsibility for your post and all property within sight.
- Patrol your assigned area alertly and professionally.
- Report any violations of the rules you're assigned to enforce.
- Relay all messages or calls from posts farther from the guard station.
- Never leave your post until properly relieved.
- Accept, follow, and pass on all instructions from authorized supervisors.
- Speak to others only when required for duty.
- Raise an alarm in case of fire or disturbance.
- Contact a superior when a situation isn’t covered in your instructions.
- Salute all officers and recognized national colors.
- Stay extra vigilant at night and question anyone approaching your post.
