How did Michelangelo study human anatomy?

He was obviously interested in Art + making stuff like sculptors and statues, he was always studying about models and artists because he was one. it was easy for him, everything was easy for him, sometimes he stayed up at night for about 3 hours trying to complete his work. he was a smart little boy.x
