The best skid steer on the market is the Caterpillar. Other brands may be cheaper, but the best value is the Cat. There are some good used skid steers available, but be sure to always buy from a dealer (Bobcat or Caterpillar) so you will have someone standing behind them. Many used skid steers are abused by untrained operators. If you buy from an individual, you might get a good price, but a bad machine.
