How do you manage a creative department in a corporation?

1. Being open to the idea of criticism is far different from criticizing every idea that an artist presents to you.

2. Never compare - or worse, impose - a team member's thought process onto another member in a well-meaning effort to improve the latter's performance.

3. Create traditions (i.e. comfort zones) that will bind your team into a cohesive unit where they are free to support one another - like a weekly staff meeting in a cafe with comfy chairs and free drinks for your team, held regularly no matter what.
