Exercise and eat just under your daily caloric needs. Don't starve or stuff yourself when you eat. There is a difference between losing weight and losing body fat.
This worked for me and revealed my six pack...
Find how many calories you burn a day by living(BMR):
66 + (6.3 x body weight in pounds) + (12.9 x height in inches) - (6.8 x age)
depending on your activity level, multiply it by one of these numbers
1.2 (no exercise / desk job)
1.375 (exercise 1-3 days a week)
1.55 (exercise 3-5 days a week)
1.725 (exercise 6-7 days a week)
1.9 (heavy exercise every day)
For me this came out to be 66 + (6.3 x 195 pounds) + (12.9 x 74 inches) - (6.8 x 20 years) = 2113
2113 x 1.375 = 2905 calories
So I eat around 2500 to 2700 calories a day (Do not eat 500+ calories under your limit or you will lose muscle, not fat. So I NEVER ate under 2400 calories).
I also eat small meals throughout the day (every few hours). Eating big meals and stuffing yourself will cause your body to store excess food/calories as fat. Starving yourself or skipping meals will cause your body to store fat because it thinks you are entering starvation and this is how it saves itself.
I exercise only once or twice a week for an hour and follow this calorie calculator and my six pack looks beast.
