From your description it would seem that either it wasn't a honey bee, or if it was the bee didn't penetrate very far and thus didn't inject much venom. People's reaction to stings do vary but one of the components is a neurotoxin and this may be affecting nerve endings at the site of the sting causing the effects you describe.
In a perverse sense it may have been better had there been more venom injected because in that case the nerves would have been completely numbed.
If it is any compensation I would say that after seven hours this shouldn't last much longer.
