How do you change an oil filter on a 84 Yamaha virago 500?

1. Remove the drain plug and drain the oil.

2. Remove the air bleed screw, oil filter cover bolts, and filter element.

3. Reinstall the drain plug (make sure it's tight).

4. Install the new oil filter element, new O-ring (make sure the O-rings are positioned properly), and filter cover. Tighten the oil filter bolt.

5. Add 2.5 L of engine oil (10W30 for cold weather, 20W40 for warm) through the oil filter. Reinstall the oil filler cap.

6. After replacement of engine oil and/or oil filter, be sure to check for the oil level and for any oil leakage. The oil level indicator light should go off after the oil is filled.
