What does apo stand for?

APO means Army Post Office. It's how the military gets it's mail if they are on land. You use it as the city and then a code like AA AE AP for the state depending on where it's going.

Complimentary to that, FPO stand for Fleet Post Office and it's how the Navy and other water-based personnel gets mail.
