Lord of the Flies-where was the meeting area?

When the boys first land on the island, they don't know where anyone is. The two characters first introduced in the novel are Ralph and Piggy. When wondering the island Ralph and Piggy come upon a conch shell, which Ralph blows through repeatedly on a platform on the island; then all the boys join them and have a meeting.
