It's difficult to estimate the exact cost of insurance without discussing it with an agent or shopping around to various companies.

The cost for insurance is based on a variety of factors, including the type of vehicle; the age, driving record and school grades of the driver; whose name is on the insurance (may be cheaper if the parents purchase the insurance); and the insurance company. Insurance is generally higher for those in a high risk group such as males age 25 and under.

Some driver's ed courses can be approved for insurance discounts (in certain states) for children who have taken the course.
