Pigs can get almost any disease that people can get - diarrhea (enteritis), pneumonia, heart infections (pericarditis, myocarditis, endocarditis), Arthritis, skin infections, urinary bladder infections, various types of cancer, etc. However, the difference is that pigs get sick from different bacteria and viruses than people (usually). In their first few weeks of life, pigs most commonly get sick with diarrhea (enteritis). Between the first and fifth months, the most common illness is pneumonia. Commerically raised pigs are usually sent to market at 5-6 months of age. Older animals, just like older people, sometimes develop cancer, chronic arthritis, reproductive issues and general age-related problems.
