According to my service manual for a 1987 (same for 86 through 89)these carburetors have a fixed high speed jet. The idle is adjusted by one screw on the right side of the carb which sets the slide opening. Another adjustment is the air adjustment on the left side of the carb. The air must be set first by turning it in until the engine is about to die. Then back it out till the engine starts to run rough. Turn the screw back in to exactly the mid point between these two limits. Then adjust the right screw to the idle speed.
Both screws are accessible from the outside of the plastic side cover through the slots. It may take some looking and moving of some wiring to see them but they are there and accessible. Good luck.
