Jonathan B. Postel was an influential American computer scientist best known for his contributions to the development of the internet. He played a key role in the creation of the Internet Protocol (IP) and was instrumental in the management of the Domain Name System (DNS). Postel served as the editor of several key Internet standards and protocols through the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and was a co-founder of the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA). His work significantly shaped the structure and governance of the Internet as we know it today.
