What is ups static switch?

In uninterruptible power supply (UPS), it is an electronic switch used to bypass a mechanical switch. Normally used when loads are switched from inverter to mains.

Static switch is an automatic switch that can only be activated depending on the condition of the UPS.

The following are the conditions wherein the UPS static switch can be activated:
1. Overload condition
2. Failure of inverter
3. Availability of UPS bypass supply but absence of UPS rectifier supply (normal UPS power) that ran out its battery.
4. Manual intervention on the UPS that resulted to the activation of static bypass switch.
