How can you find a multiple of 45 closest to 8000?

I'm sure there is some mathematical way to do it, but since I knew 9000 is a multiple of 45, I subtracted 45 enough times to get close. The answer is 8010. We used to call that trial and error, but I think it's now called guess and check.
