Does having your laptop charging constantly ruin the battery?

well ya cause it over charges the cell and starts to kill the ions. i looked this up myself and it turns out that if your using it as a desktop, fully use the battery, charge back to 100% then bring it down to about 40% then sut down your com, unplug it and pull out the battery and it could last forever like that
