What motivated Fiona wood to first study science and the treatment of burns?

Fiona Wood originally wanted to be an Olympic sprinter. Her reasons for changing her career path to medicine is not publically known. However, it led her to become Australia's first female plastic surgeon. She later served as head of the burn unit at Royal Perth Hospital. She is credited with saving the lives of several burn victims and inventing a new spray on skin technology.
