A camera lens is made up of what?

A camera lens mostly consist of an array of lenses (with or without an aperture mechanism to control the amount of light which passes through). To allow light to pass to the film or sensor, these are made of transparent materials mostly high quality glass. In some cameras specially cheap single use cameras even different types of plastics are used to make lens.
