Keratinocytes are primarily found in the epidermis, the outermost layer of the skin. They make up about 90% of the cells in the epidermis and are responsible for producing keratin, a protein that provides strength and waterproofing to the skin. Additionally, keratinocytes can also be found in hair follicles and the mucosal linings of certain organs.
