Why are lice more common in children than in adults?

Children tend to pass viruses and things of that nature much quicker than adults because they have closer contact with one another (mainly in a school setting, but even two children playing together can be very close). Another thing to consider is that younger children make a habit of putting foreign objects in their mouths and this is a sure way to catch any bug or virus going around, lice included.
