What causes diaper fetish?

It is not totally understood what causes a diaper fetish however with the advent of the internet we now know that many people have diaper fetishes.

There are two distinct groups of people who have this fetish with a little bit of crossover between both groups. The first group are people who are called "diaper lovers". This group is mainly interested in the wearing and for many the using of diapers for their intended purpose. These people wear and/or use diapers for sexual arousal and sexual gratification. There are also people in this group who wear diapers for comfort and security only and because they feel good.

The second group are called infantilists. This group not only wear and possibly use diapers but also enjoy the baby aspect or age regression factor. They often also use other baby items like baby bottles pacifiers, baby clothes, etc.

Some even have complete nurserys in their homes with adult sized cribs, high chairs and adult sized baby clothes. This group is mostly about age regression to a time when things were carefree. No responsibilities, up to and including the use of their diapers for their intended purpose. This group may also gain arousal and sexual gratification from wearing diapers.

Some "diaper lovers" may also use baby bottles or pacifiers also but it is mainly the diapers that interest them.

As to the main question "What causes a diaper fetish" it can be one of a few different reasons.

In my case I was potty trained too early and became obsessed with diapers from about the age of 5 years old. It was a matter of pride back in the 60's when I was born for a mother to have their children out of diapers no later than the age of 2 years old. Back then diapers were cotton cloth diapers used with plastic pants over them. It was an unpleasant task for mothers back then to clean these diapers and many children were hurried through the potty training process even though many were not yet ready, physically or emotionally. I can only speak mainly from my own perspective and experience because as a male having snug fitting, bulky, soft diapers and plastic pants over my genitals was a pleasant feeling. As a toddler I began masturbating in my diapers especially after soining them and when I was finally potty trained I felt as though something warm and secure was missing. No more soft, bulky diapers and plastic pants. I also loved the texture of the plastic pants and would often rub the front of my diapers when I was in my bed.

Another reaon for a diaper fetish is late potty training such was the case for my nephew now 34 years old. In his case he was not fully potty trained until the age of 5 years old. In his case it wasn't until he was around 9 years old that he began to obsess over diapers. Of course he was raised in disposable diapers.

He had confided in me that he too liked the feel of the diapers between his legs and enjoyed the feeling of a wet and dirty diaper.

Still yet another reason for a diaper fetish is what is called "diaper discipline".

In this situation a young child (older than diaper wearing age) has an accident or accidents in their bed or their pants and is put back into diapers as a sort of punishment or corrective action until the issue could be resolved.

From a young boy's perspective wearing diapers when you're older is embarrassing but also taboo and triggers a sexual arousal response because of the proximity and closeness of the diaper against the genitals.

Part of my arousal and my nephews arousal invloves being shamed such as our mothers did to us for having wet, stinky diapers. In my case my mother wasn't being malicious or anything but rather a used a method employed by mothers of the time to embarrass or humiliate their child out of diapers.

I remember my nephew being shamed by my mother after being caught behind the couch at the age of 5 filling his diapers with poop. I My mother shamed him and I think I was actually more embarrassed than my nephew, but at the same time aroused as well.

This is yet another reason for a diaper fetish. Some people are sexually aroused by being shamed or humiliated as youngsters for having wet, stinky diapers and it makes them feel naughty and taboo wearing and in some cases using their diapers.
