A typical office phone will have the normal number pad, but also buttons like pause, hold, mute, access massage and transfer.

The right side of the phone usually has an area where the left part shows outbound lines and the right part shows the inbound connection (with names of people in the office).

So if anyone in the office makes an outbound call (press 0 first, so it recognize it is to outside), one of the red lights on the outbound part will be on. Same if u makes a call to an outside party. When u receive a call, ask them who they are addressing the issues to, then press the button next to the name they specified. Remember to hang up your phone otherwise the call won't go through to that person.

On my first day as an office all rounder, it is a disaster. I kept pressing the wrong buttons, hanged up a few calls to my boss and transfered lots of calls to the wrong persons. I hope u wont have to go through that!
