No they are not extinct , yet but they are sadly 1200 left and there is not much we can do about it
Yes In 1980 there were only 400 left in 1990 there was less than 100 they did a six week search but none were found it is possible that they missed one or two but they have no chance of survival the Baiji was also known as the Goddess of Yangtze it died out because of pollution.
It is officially defined as extinct. in 2004 a fisherman claimed to see one but none have been seen in the last six years and due to the pollution from sewage pipes it is not possible for them to survive.
