Who was the original artist for the song Some Say Love?

If you are referring to the song "The Rose" sung by Bette Midler in the movie "The Rose" she sang it first but the writer Amanda McBroom also covered it the next year in 1980 on one of her own releases. So I have to say Bette is the original artist.
