How can you encounter shiny Pokemon in Emerald?

Shiny Pokemon are very rare. There is a 1/1,192 chance of finding one. Even if you go through 1,192 battles, most likely, you still won't encounter a shiny. That is because each Pokemon you encounter have the same chances of being shiny, battling more doesn't increase your chances. There are several ways of getting a shiny though.

- battling wild Pokemon
- hatching eggs (Every egg has their traits already chosen. So hatching, restarting, then hatching the same egg again will not work. Each egg you hatch must be a different egg every time.)
- saving at the game corner prize shop and then trading in game coins for a Pokemon, while restarting
- save right next to a legendary Pokemon and keep battling then restarting

Good luck! I've played 400 hours on my Ruby Version and I've only encountered a shiny Spinda and a shiny Nidorina.
